FAQ - Is Autogenic Therapy difficult to learn?

The AT exercises are very simple to learn. All you need is motivation and commitment. You get comfortably into one of the three autogenic postures, close your eyes and repeat silently to yourself short phrases while focusing your attention on different parts of your body. The key is to adopt a relaxed, effortless attitude to the exercises – ‘passive concentration’. You become the passive observer who simply accepts and witnesses everything that happens – your bodily sensations, thoughts and feelings – without judgement. You concentrate on your arms, legs, etc. with an alert but detached awareness.

With my instruction and support and your commitment to regular practice, you will soon get the hang of passive concentration and become the observer of your physical and mental state. This is a lower level of attention than active concentration, linked to a calm and relaxed attitude, with little concern for step-by-step detail or striving for results. If you practise the exercises three times per day for approximately 10 minutes each time, you will be able to shift into this deeply relaxing mindset within a few moments – your own ‘oasis of peace’.

Autogenic Therapy or AT is a treasure trove of simple but powerful tools that give you a new perspective on your life and empower you to find balance and well-being anytime.
